The primary objective of the Corporate Resource Centre is to facilitate the two-way flow of knowledge information between the school and the corporate with a view to ensure that our academic process remains contemporary and useful considering the changes in the present era of knowledge economy. The School of Management is creating some established and some unique avenues to collaborate with industry which includes collaborative programmes, research projects through the On-The-Job Training (OJT) for students, Corporate Seminars and inviting faculty resources from industry. Some of the activities of the centre are listed below:
Corporate Seminar Series
Keeping abreast with current trends in the industry and business, research is a prime focus area for SOM. The Corporate Seminar Series consists of regular seminars by luminaries from the corporate world. This initiative is to help students get up to date with the industry happenings from the gurus themselves.

Collaborative Programs
PGDBIM with ICICI Bank
In collaboration with ICICI Bank , KIIT SOM has been successfully running a highly specialized and market driven one year regular full time post graduate diploma in Banking & Insurance Management (PGDBIM) program since the academic year 2007-08. The program combines theoretical inputs handled by seasoned faculty members with long years of experience in Banking & Insurance industries along with hands on expertise and experience sharing by working executives. Placement opportunities in Banks & Insurance companies are offered to the passing out students
JCP with HDFC Bank
In collaboration with HDFC Bank, SOM is running a Joint Certification Program in Retail Banking. The aim is to promote academic and Business exchanges between HDFC Bank and School of Management. HDFC Bank provides their expertise in conducting lectures, case studies, arrange for field visits and at the end of the course select students for employment with the Bank.
Faculty Resources from Industry
In order to provide exposure to the contemporary trends, issues and concerns in the day to day corporate functioning, practicing managers from reputed organizations are invited to handle classroom teaching, problem solving, simulation exercises, role plays and decision making along with the in house faculty members. On Job Training (OJT)
The OJT programme encourages students to undertake research-based projects to gain real life corporate/ industrial experience. At the end of the third term, students are required to undertake a project in an industry where they can apply the theory to which they have been exposed.
The OJT programme is an integral part of the curriculum and its objectives are as follows:
• To help students bridge the gap between theory and practice.
• To foster analytical and logical skills so as to nourish creativity.
• To assist students in acquiring requisite knowledge and competence to enhance managerial skills.
• To help the organization utilize the conceptual expertise that the students imbibe during the first year of their studies and avail themselves of the benefits of quick research analysis.
Study Tour
A component of study tour has been added in the MBA programme from the Academic year 2008-2009. The study tour will provide an opportunity to the students to gain an insight and exposure to the organizational practices, experience an unfamiliar organisational environment and be able interact with senior managers handling core functions. |
