ICC Organises Strategic HR Summit in Association with KIIT

Indian Chamber of Commerce in association with KIIT University organized a Strategic HR Summit ' in Kolkata recently.

The summit successfully addressed issues ranging from employee engagement and developing effective communication to identifying employee skills and further leveraging such critical skills for developing an appropriate work culture in contemporary organizations.

Addressing the august gathering at the Inaugural Session of ICC's 4th Annual Strategic HR Summit 2010, Dr. A. S Kolaskar, Vice Chancellor, KIIT University, said that with the Indian Economy springing back to an impressive growth performance after surviving the acute Global Financial Crisis, demand for higher and professional education has skyrocketed. This has put immense pressure on the education sector as a whole to provide the requisite skill development and training tailor made for the industry, he added.

A deeper industry-academia engagement is of utmost importance if the requisite excellence in educational standards has to be maintained, he concluded.

Maintaining a similar perspective, Dr. Giri Dua, Chairman, TASMAC, noted that the recovery process has brought hiring trends back in the industry. Mr. Jayanta Roy, Senior Vice President, ICC, in a highly illustrative theme address, underscored value creation through skill training, employee empowerment, providing the right work-life balance and a friendly trust based working environment.

Among the other eminent speakers who attended the Summit and shared their rich insights, were Dr. Sridhar, Executive Vice President, ITC, Mr. R. P. Ojha, Executive Director, Power Grid and Dr. Pulak Das, Professor IIM, Calcutta.
